FAQ

FAQ

How do I know if I have gum disease?

Gum disease is characterized by receding gums, swelling, bleeding, tooth mobility and bad breath. Dr. Aiello will perform a thorough screening on every patient during each exam to identify gum disease in its earliest stages.

What is LANAP?

LANAP is a periodontal laser treatment that improves the periodontal health of people who suffer from moderate to severe gum disease. Lasers speed up recovery and preserve teeth that would otherwise be extracted.

Am I a candidate for sedation dentistry?

Sedation dentistry is safe and effective for patients of all ages. Dr. Aiello will review your medical history prior to treatment to determine which type of sedation is most appropriate.

What type of cosmetic dental treatments do you offer?

Dr. Aiello personalizes all smile makeovers to fit the needs and expectations of each patient. Some of the cosmetic services that we provide include teeth whitening, cosmetic bonding, and dental veneers. We also offer porcelain crowns and white fillings.

Are digital dental x-rays safe?

Absolutely. Digital x-rays reduce the amount of radiation needed, and also eliminate harmful processing chemicals needed for conventional films. Plus, your images are visible instantly for us to discuss with you.

How do I know if I need a root canal?

If you need a root canal, you may have no symptoms, or you may be in severe pain. It depends on the advancement of disease within your tooth.  Dr. Aiello will use an x-ray to evaluate the health of your tooth and determine whether or not any nerve damage has taken place.

Can my tooth have a filling instead of a crown?

Unfortunately, very large cavities or fractures may not leave enough stable tooth enamel to support a filling. In cases such as these, it is necessary for Dr. Aiello to cover the tooth with a crown, instead of rebuilding it with a filling.

What type of dental implants do I need?

Dental implants can be used to replace individual teeth or several teeth at once. Dr. Aiello can discuss whether an implant crown, bridge, or denture is most appropriate given your current oral health.

Do you use dental lasers in your office?

Yes! Our soft tissue dental lasers allow us to provide LANAP procedures for patients with periodontal disease. Laser therapy improves your healing time and response when moderate to severe gum disease is present.
