Do dental implants hurt?

Dental implants in and of themselves should never be painful. Once you have a dental implant in Clinton Township, the implant will look and feel like a natural tooth—with the titanium post staying wholly hidden from view.

Placing dental implants, however, requires precise oral surgery, and it’s normal for your body to need time to heal after. You will remain completely sedated during your implant placement surgery or surgeries, but you can expect standard amounts of pain and tenderness in the days immediately following your surgery. While your dental implant is integrating with your jaw, our dental team will ask you to stick to a softer diet and to be mindful of the vulnerable area(s) in your mouth.

You can manage your post-operative pain with over-the-counter painkillers such as ibuprofen, and you should begin to feel normal again in the days and weeks following your procedure(s).

Our patients consistently report that their mild discomfort is a small price to pay for receiving dental implants, as implants can provide decades of support for your mouth. With dental implants in Clinton Township, you can feel free to enjoy all your favorite foods and smile with confidence knowing that you have the very best dental restorations available.
